Black outlines & softer details
The outlines are opaque black so you can color neatly the main areas. The details are softened, you can go over those lines which have some transparency.
This is a self-portrait I draw years ago from a photograph.
I dislike the exercise of self-portraits, but I like the idea of portraits capturing the personality of someone, with more depth in meaning than a simple photograph could. In my original drawing I sketched myself turned towards left, I decided to reedit and make it turn to the right, facing the future.
I romanticized the background with a pattern of roses inspired by the Art Deco movement, my favorite portraits are from this style. I wanted to be caught in my “natural habit” of being deep in my thoughts holding my all-time favorite mug filled with warm tea. As I am writing this description this very mug is actually at my side. Cheers!
